Financial Assistance

I would like to apply for financial assistance. What should I do?

You may contact our Welfare Aid Department at 6746 5729 every Monday-Friday at 9am - 5pm for them to assist you with the application. Alternatively, you can drop us an email at and our officers will get in touch with you.

I am a social worker, how do I refer my clients to you?

You may drop us an email at Kindly attached the client’s social report and contact details for us to access the client’s financial situation.

What assistance does MTFA provide?

One of the main programs run by MTFA is to provide monthly monetary assistance for fakir/miskin families. Fidyah vouchers are given to only selected families.

What is the criteria to apply for financial assistance?

Our financial assistance fund is targeted for households who have a cut off Per Capita Income (PCI) of $400 and below.

PCI is calculated by taking the total household income and dividing by the number of people living in the house. Total household income includes income of all family members living in the same house as the applicant.

How long will my application be processed?

All applications will be processed within 3 months upon receiving the completed application form and all required documents.

How will I be informed of my application status?

We will inform you of your application status via mail to your home address provided.

Do you provide financial assistance to students? What documents will be required?

We provide financial assistance for students in the following levels: Primary 1 - 6 Secondary 1 -5
Tertiary level students may apply for our Bursary & Scholarship: Ensure that you have prepared these documents before applying.

Bursary & Scholarship

When is the application period for 2021?

The application for MTFA Bursary and Scholarship will run from 11 May 2021 to 10 June 2021.

Who can apply for the Bursary award?

  1. Muslim Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
  2. Full time tertiary student in any of the following institutions:
    • Institute of Technical Education (ITE)
    • Polytechnic
    • Junior College/Madrasah (Pre-U level)
    • Universities based in Singapore & abroad
  3. Family Per Capita Income (PCI) should not exceed $400 and total household income should not exceed $4,000. Total household income includes income of all family members living in the same house as the applicant. PCI is calculated by taking the total household income and dividing by the number of people living in the house.

*Students who are graduating in 2021 are not eligible to apply.

*Not applicable for Primary and Secondary Students.

Who can apply for the Scholarship award?

  1. Muslim Singapore citizen
  2. Full time student in universities based in Singapore or abroad
  3. Outstanding academic achievements
  4. Excellent co-curricular activities record
  5. Strong leadership qualities and potential
  6. Passion to contribute to Singapore’s Muslim community
  7. Applicants’ household income must not exceed $4000 per month. Household income includes income of all family members living in the same house as the applicant.

*Students who are graduating in 2021 are not eligible to apply.

*Applicants who have applied for MTFA Bursary are not eligible to apply for Scholarship.

Are we allowed to apply for MTFA Bursary if we have already applied for other bursaries (eg MOE Bursary)?


Applicants are allowed to apply for our MTFA Bursary even when you have applied for other bursaries. However, you will need to declare on the application form.

How do I submit the supporting documents?

You need to upload scanned copies of the supporting documents in the application forms.

What is value of the bursary award?

  1. The value of the bursary awards are as follows:
    • Institute of Technical Education (ITE) – $1000.00
    • Polytechnic – $1000.00
    • Junior College/Madrasah (Pre-U) – $1000.00
    • Universities based in Singapore & abroad – $2000.00
  2. The bursary is tenable for one year only.
  3. Although there is no bond for this bursary, successful applicants are expected to provide support and volunteer anytime MTFA reaches out to them for assistance in our charitable activities.

How and when will we be informed of our application status?

The outcome of the application will be notified via mail/e-mail/SMS by the end of September 2021.

When will the Award Ceremony be held?

More details will be given on a later date.

Is there a bond I need to fulfill?

Bursary: Bursary recipients are not required to serve anybond. However, they are strongly encouraged to volunteer for any MTFA or Darul Ihsan Orphanage events. Scholarship: Successful recipients are required to complete 10 hours of service to MTFA or Darul Ihsan Orphanage. More details will be provided later.

Ihsan Kidney Care

How can I apply for Ihsan Kidney Care's subsidised dialysis programme?

Application form will be provided to you through your Medical Social Worker or you may download the form here.

Please fill up the application form along with the relevant documents and submit it to Ihsan Kidney Care's office at 21 Norris Rd, Singapore 208263.

Who is eligible to apply for Ihsan Kidney Care's subsidised dialysis programme?

Only Singaporean or Permanent Resident aged 18 years and above.

Applicant's family monthly per capita income not exceeding $2,600 would be considered. Should the applicant's family monthly per capita income exceed $2,600, Ihsan Kidney Care will assess these applications on a case-by-case basis.

May have any other co-mobility conditions but is rendered safe to undergo Haemodialysis (HD) in a standalone centre.

How long does the application take?

Application process takes approximately a week. This is subject to availability of equipment.

How much are your dialysis charges?

Charges varies, depending on the subsidy received by each patient.

Does the dialysis fee includes other additional treatment and medication?

We will perform financial counselling with the patient. Any subsidy or additional cost will be advised accordingly during the financial counselling session.

Does Ihsan Kidney Care provide transportation?

Currently, there is no transportation service available. However, we are working hard towards making it happen. Watch this space for updates.

Darul Ihsan Orphanage

Are all the residents of Darul Ihsan orphans?


We have a mixture of residents who are either fully orphans, or has one parent who has passed away, or parents who are missing, incarcerated or unable to care for them due to their financial or housing situation.

Do the residents have family members or other relatives outside the home?

Yes, all our residents have family members or relatives who reside elsewhere. Our residents do not stay with their relatives permanently due to various reasons such as, lack of space, poor financial status, or other personal matters.

When will they be discharged?

There is no fixed age for discharge. Residents are discharged once there is a suitable place for them to be discharged to and when their family members are able to take them back or when residents are able to fend for themselves when they have begun working.

What is the age group of the residents?

Currently the residents are aged between 9 to 21 years old.

How is Darul Ihsan Orphanage funded?

Darul Ihsan Orphanage relies on donations from the public and support from MTFA to maintain its operations.

How come they have Home Leave?

As most of the residents have relatives living elsewhere, they are allowed to go back during the holiday period to spend time with their families. This assists with maintaining the family bond and allowing the children to experience a different environment.

Do they go to the mainstream schools?

Yes. It is a requirement that all our residents who are of schooling age go to mainstream schools.

Do the residents receive Zakat?

Our residents do not receive Zakat. This is because they receive full assistance from Darul Ihsan Orphanage. As such, they do not qualify under the 8 Asnaf. Furthermore, their families do not receive Zakat because the children are cared for by Darul Ihsan Orphanage. However, Darul Ihsan Orphanage provides care to the families of our residents, through constant communication from our Case Workers.

How can I volunteer?

  • You are most welcome to volunteer at Darul Ihsan Orphanage by downloading the volunteer application form by clicking the link below. Please take note that volunteers are required to be screened by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) prior to starting their volunteering activity.
  • Volunteers will undergo an induction training session to ensure that they are fully briefed about the rules and regulations of volunteering at Darul Ihsan Orphanage.

Can the residents be adopted?

Our residents cannot be adopted as they already have family members and relatives residing elsewhere.

Are they allowed to attend marriages/functions/events?

  • Our residents are allowed to attend external events so long as there is an accompanying officer from Darul Ihsan Orphanage. Interested parties send their invitations for events via email to
  • The number of events that residents will be able to attend will be adjusted accordingly due to the examination or home leave period.

What are the activities/events preferred by the residents?

You are welcome to invite our residents for events that fall within any of the below categories:

  • Religious / educational / motivational / healthcare talks or programmes
  • Sporting activities
  • Shopping trips
  • Recreational activities such as visits to Singapore Places of Interest
  • Educational trips to museums, historical sights, farms, schools

Can I walk-in for interactions?

All interaction requests are subject to approval from the Chairman of Darul Ihsan Orphanage. As such, no walk-in requests are allowed for interaction. You may submit your request for interaction with the residents via email at

What is the address of the orphanages?

We run the Darul Ihsan Orphanage in two different premises. One for male residents and one for female residents.

What is the age limit if I want to admit a child into Darul Ihsan Orphanage?

Residents may be admitted into Darul Ihsan Orpahange between the ages of 7 to 12 years old.

Any fees paid for the residents in the orphanage?

Residents and their family members do not need to provide any funds to support the child during their stay in Darul Ihsan Orphanage, as there are funds set aside to support the resident holistically during their stay in Darul Ihsan Orphanage.

What does the case work unit do?

  • Admissions – Case Workers liaise with various social service agencies within the community to get suitable referrals for placement in the Orphanage.
  • Case Management – the case of every admitted resident is managed by the Case Worker. Case management involves the formulation of their Individual Care Plan (ICP) to ensure that every area of development of the child and youth are met holistically, regular counselling to address presenting issues that residents bring with them during admission or new issues that may arise during their placement, clinical therapy by agency partners and discharge planning to reintegrate them back into their family once their care plan has met its goals.
  • Documentation – all aspects of case workers functioning are well documented and stored in respective residents’ case files for agencies’ reference, inspection and audit purposes.

What is the daily and weekly routine for the residents?

  • Residents are provided with a daily home programme to ensure that they are informed about the activities that are prepared for them.
  • Residents are also provided with a weekly events list to inform them of the events that are planned for the week and the names of residents who are involved in each of the specific events.

What type of donations are accepted?

  • You may call us at 67477556 to book your preferred date/time slots to donate cooked meals for our residents.
  • For other in-kind donations such as biscuits, cereals, milk, oil, canned food or other food items.
  • You may also visit either of our premises to drop of items such as stationery, hygiene products or new clothes suitable for children.

What is Darul Ihsan's daily opening hours?

Darul Ihsan Orphanage (Boys)

  • Main Office is open from:
    Mondays to Thursdays: 8.30am to 6pm
    Fridays: 8.30am to 5.30pm
    Alternate Saturdays: 8.30am to 1pm

Darul Ihsan Orphanage (Girls)

  • Darul Ihsan Orphanage (Girls) has 26 girls aged between 10 to 20 years’ old

Do we provide religious education / programmes activities / events

  • All our residents are required to go for external Madrasah programmes. Their programmes are catered to their ages and it is fully funded by MUIS.
  • Furthermore, our residents are taught to read the Qur’an or Iqra during daily Tadarrus sessions in the Home premises by the Welfare Officers.
  • Residents also participate in weekly Tazkirah sessions whereby they watch religious educational videos to learn important life lessons / values.

Are residents provided with academic assistance?

All our residents go to mainstream government schools and are provided with additional educational programmes either in-house or in their schools such as tuition, study periods, assistance of volunteers and reading programmes.

If I want to give a cheque, for donation to the residents / Home, who should I attention it to?

  • Donations to Darul Ihsan Orphanage: The cheque is to be made payable to Darul Ihsan Orphanage.
  • Donations to the residents’ accounts: The cheque is to be made payable to Darul Ihsan Orphanage – Residents’ A/C

How are my donations spent?

  • Darul Ihsan Orphanage relies on public donations to fund its’ operations. Therefore, your donations are spent fully on the care of the residents.

What are the brief duties of a Welfare Officer?

Welfare Officers are essentially the parents and guardians of our residents. They care for the residents holistically to provide for the spiritual, educational, physical, cognitive and social needs. Welfare Officers are on duty 24 hours at Darul Ihsan Orphanage.

How many meals are provided per day?

  • Residents are provided with breakfast, lunch, tea break and dinner.
  • Furthermore, residents are provided with snacks and water during the whole day.

What is the admission criteria for Darul Ihsan Orphanage?

  • The children must be Muslim orphans (whose natural father has passed away) or are indigent children
  • Preferably aged below 13 years’ old
  • Studying in local government institutions
  • Singapore citizens or PR or Student Pass Holders, whose parents is /was a Singapore Citizen/PR
  • Council members may review cases and grant approvals based on compassionate grounds for those who do not meet the above-mentioned criteria

Who do they do during the weekend?

  • Residents are required to go for Mendaki and Madrasah sessions during the weekends.
  • Additionally, when special events and activities will be organized for the afternoon and evening accordingly.

Who provides food for them?

  • Our residents are provided with home-cooked meals by certified cooks in both the orphanages.
  • We welcome food donations for our meals depending on the availability of slots.
  • If you wish to donate cooked meals, you may call us at 67477556 to make a booking to donate a meal.

What modes of payment do you accept for the funeral services?

We accept cash, PayNow, NETS and cheque. For PayNow, please key in our UEN number: 53411473C. For cheques, please make it payable to Ihsan Casket.

Is Ihsan Casket a registered company in Singapore?

Yes! We are registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). Our UEN number is 53411473C.

How do I register a death in Singapore?

All deaths in Singapore must be reported within 24 hours. You can register the death at any Neighborhood Police Post or Police Division Headquarters. There is no fee for registering a death. Registration and collection of Death Certificate will be processed on the spot. You will need to provide the following documents: - A Certificate of Cause of Death (CCOD) issued by a doctor or authorized medical practitioner - The deceased’s identification documents (NRIC) and/or passport) for cancellation - Your identification documents (IC or passport). The person registering the death does not need to be related to the deceased. Should death occur at home unexpectedly, you will need to engage a doctor or authorized medical practitioner to certify the death. You can also call the casket company as they have doctors which collaborate for the event.

How can we arrange for funeral services or placenta collection?

What is included in the funeral package?

Our funeral package consists of: - Professional equipment, accessories, and qualified personnel to carry out the showering of the deceased - Imam to lead the funeral prayers, talqin and to provide an advisory role for funeral rites in accordance to Islamic beliefs - Carpet grass, ceramic name plaque and temporary tombstone - Burial permits and all paperwork done by us - Fully equipped casket van - Passenger bus or minibus for your attendees (upon request)

Zakat & Donations

If I pay my zakat at MTFA, is the zakat tax-deductible?

Yes, all zakat payments collected with a receipt issued will be tax-deductible. However, there is no auto-inclusion.

How can I pay my zakat to MTFA?

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we are only allowing these two simple ways to pay Zakat to MTFA:

1. PayNow or Credit Card

Kindly go to our home page and click on 'Donate/Pay Zakat' and choose your preferred payment method.

2. Cheque

Cheques must be crossed and payable to MUSLIMIN TRUST FUND ASSOCIATION - ZAKAT ACCOUNT.

What happens if the office is closed? Can I still make donations or pay zakat?

How do I proceed to make donations or zakat via drop-off service?

It is a simple process.

  1. Simply pick up a drop-off envelope (in pink) and start filling up your details.
  2. Remember to check the ‘tax deductible receipt’ box if you require one.
  3. Kindly note that your name, mailing address and contact number are very important so please write legibly.
  4. Insert your cash/cheque/NETS receipt (duplicate copy) into the envelope and seal it.
  5. Tear out the pink carbon copy and keep it for reference.
  6. Fold the envelope and simply drop them off in the drop-off box located right beside the main office door.
However, with effect from 8th May 2021, we are only allowing online payment.

Can I make a donation via GIRO?

Yes, you may. Simply download the form at our website > Donate/Pay Zakat. Fill up the form, sign and send the original copy to us.

How long does GIRO take to process?

Processing will take about 2-3 weeks before the donation can be deducted from the donor’s bank account. We will advise you of the actual date when the first GIRO deduction will be made.

How do I cancel my GIRO donation?

You need to inform your bank and terminate your GIRO arrangement with them. Once we received your bank’s instruction, we will then cease the monthly deduction.

I accidentally tick the monthly subscription when I made an online donation to MTFA. What should I do to cancel my subscription via Credit Card?

Drop us an email at to inform us that you want to cancel your subscription. We will do cancellation of the subscription for you.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, all outright cash donations to Darul Ihsan Orphanage (IPC Status) that do not give material benefit to the donor are fully tax-deductible. Please note that you do not need to submit your tax-deductible donation receipt to IRAS when filing your annual Income tax assessment as the charity will do the submission on your behalf. NRIC/FIN or Company Registration number must be provided.

MTFA Burial

Who is eligible for the free burial service?

We arrange free burial for the deceased who meets any of these criteria:

  1. No next-of-kin/relative
  2. No claimant
  3. The claimant/next of kin/relative is unable to pay for the burial.
