Bringing Smiles on Asyura

Updated: Jul 30

This Asyura, MTFA was honoured to carry forward the spirit of compassion and community with our annual Asyura campaign – an initiative dedicated to uplifting underprivileged children and those who have lost a parent or guardian. Thanks to the collective effort of volunteers and corporate partners, we successfully distributed goodie bags to almost 300 children across Singapore.

Gracing the occasion was Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling, who personally joined us in distributing the gifts to families in the MacPherson area. Her presence brought warmth and encouragement to both recipients and volunteers alike, and served as a meaningful reminder of the power of ground-up community care.

The Asyura goodie bags were thoughtfully curated to support the educational and emotional needs of the children. Each bag included essential school supplies, practical items, and generous vouchers from our partners – with contributions coming from hundreds of donors as well as corporate sponsors who stepped forward in the spirit of giving.

We are also proud to share that the campaign was featured on the frontpage of Berita Harian. The coverage not only spotlighted the event but helped amplify the message of collective compassion that underpins MTFA’s mission.

Behind the scenes, this effort was powered by a dedicated team of volunteers who fanned out across the island to ensure timely delivery

to all our young beneficiaries. From packing logistics to last-mile delivery, their tireless support made it possible for MTFA to fulfil this meaningful outreach. And for that, we are deeply grateful.

As we mark this special day in the Islamic calendar, MTFA remains committed to building a society where no child is left behind, and where care is delivered with dignity, love, and faith.

To all who supported the campaign: thank you for helping us make this Asyura a little brighter for the children who need it most.
